Meanwhile, Vader hires the bounty hunter Boba Fett to track down the Millennium Falcon and capture Luke's friends. The film was released in 1980 and was directed by Irvin Kershner. It is widely considered to be one of the best films in the Star Wars saga.

The sixth and final instalment of the Star Wars saga, Return of the Jedi, was released in May 1983. The film sees Luke Skywalker and his friends attempt to rescue Han Solo from the evil Jabba the Hutt, while also facing off against Darth Vader and the Emperor. Return of the Jedi was directed by Richard Marquand and written by Lawrence Kasdan and George Lucas. It starred Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, and David Prowse. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $475 million worldwide. It was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Visual Effects and Best Sound Mixing.

The Phantom Menace is a 1999 American epic space opera film written and directed by George Lucas, produced by Lucasfilm, distributed by 20th Century Fox, and stars Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd, Ian McDiarmid, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Pernilla August, and Frank Oz. It is the first film in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the beginning of the Star Wars saga. Set 32 years before the original film, the plot follows the Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi as they protect Queen Amidala in hopes of securing a peaceful end to a large-scale trade dispute. Soon after arriving on the peaceful planet of Naboo, the two Jedi are confronted by the Sith Lord Darth Maul, who intends to stop them from returning the queen to the Galactic Republic. Lucas began production of the film after directing and producing the highly successful first two films of the original trilogy, Star Wars (1977) and The Empire Strikes Back (1980). He declined to direct a fourth film, opting to write and produce instead. The Phantom Menace was released on May 19, 1999, almost 16 years after the premiere of the first film, and became the highest-grossing film of 1999.

The film opens with a battle between the Trade Federation and the people of Naboo. Queen Amidala and her forces are outnumbered and outgunned, but they manage to defeat the Trade Federation. Ten years later, Anakin Skywalker is now a Jedi Knight and is assigned to protect Amidala. The two eventually fall in love, much to the disapproval of the Jedi Council. Meanwhile, a separatist movement has begun to take shape, led by the mysterious Count Dooku. When Anakin's mother is killed, he sets out to find the killer and exact revenge. This leads him down a dark path that will eventually lead him to the dark side of the Force. As the Clone Wars begin, Anakin will have to choose between his love for Amidala and his duty to the Jedi Order.

The third and final installment of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Revenge of the Sith, finds Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) seduced by the dark side of the Force and lured into the evil Emperor Palpatine's (Ian McDiarmid) clutches. As the Clone Wars rage on throughout the galaxy, Anakin, now a Jedi Knight, finds himself torn between his duty to the Republic and his growing allegiance to Palpatine, the mysterious Sith Lord who seems to offer Anakin the power to save his wife, Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman), from certain death. As the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance, Anakin must make the ultimate choice: save the woman he loves, or fulfill his destiny as the Emperor's new right-hand man, Darth Vader.

The long-awaited seventh installment of the Star Wars saga, The Force Awakens, is finally here. The movie opens with a massive attack by the First Order, a new military force that has risen from the ashes of the Empire, on the peaceful planet of Jakku. The Resistance, a group of freedom fighters led by General Leia Organa, is outnumbered and outgunned, but they're not giving up without a fight. Meanwhile, on the desert planet of Tatooine, a young scavenger named Rey comes across a droid named BB-8, who holds the key to the Resistance's salvation. Rey, Finn (a former Stormtrooper), and Poe (a hotshot X-Wing pilot) team up to get BB-8 to the Resistance base before the First Order can get their hands on him. The Force Awakens is a spectacular return to form for the Star Wars franchise, with non-stop action, humor, and heart. The new characters are instantly likable and the old favorites are back and better than ever. This is a must-see for any fan of the series.

The Last Jedi picks up where The Force Awakens left off, with Rey (Daisy Ridley) having found Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on the planet Ahch-To. Rey begins her Jedi training with Luke, while the Resistance, led by General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), prepares to do battle with the First Order, led by General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) and the villainous Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). The Last Jedi features plenty of action, humor, and emotion, and will leave audiences eager for the next installment in the Star Wars saga.

The film will conclude the Skywalker saga and will follow the aftermath of The Last Jedi, in which Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) died and Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) was left in a coma. The story will center on Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Rey will continue her training to become a Jedi under the guidance of General Leia. Finn and Poe will team up on a mission to save the galaxy from the First Order. Kylo Ren will struggle with his inner demons as he tries to protect the First Order from the Resistance.
